Wholesale or retail? Know the difference first.
We lease offices for wholesale dealer licenses only. If you plan to sell cars to the public, you need a retail license and a retail lot, which we don't offer.

|---|---|---|
| Who you sell to | Other licensed dealers and dealer-only auctions | The general public |
| Buy at dealer-only auctions | Yes | Yes |
| Sell to the public | No | Yes |
| Car lot or showroom | Usually not required | Usually required |
| Walk-in customers | None. Business is dealer to dealer. | Yes, every day |

Questions
FAQ
What is a wholesale dealer license?
A wholesale dealer license lets your business buy and sell vehicles with other licensed dealers, including at dealer-only auctions. You can't sell to the general public with it. Most wholesalers buy at auction and resell to other dealers or export, so there's no showroom and no walk-in customers.
How is a wholesale license different from a retail license?
A retail dealer sells to the public, so it usually needs a display lot, more signage and consumer sales paperwork. A wholesale dealer only deals with other licensed dealers. See the side-by-side comparison above.
Can I sell cars to the public with a wholesale license?
No. Selling to retail customers requires a retail dealer license. If that's your plan, our offices aren't the right fit.
Do you have space for retail dealers?
No. We only lease offices for wholesale dealer licenses. We don't offer car lots or showrooms.
What else will my application need?
It depends on the state, but applications commonly ask for a registered business, a dealer surety bond, insurance and a background check. We provide the office and the signed lease. The licensing agency gives you the full list.
Do I have to move or change my driver's license?
No. Our tenants live in every state. You keep your current residence and driver's license. The office is your business location.
Do I need to visit the office?
No. This isn't retail space you have to staff every day. You can reserve and sign remotely.
When do I start paying?
Not until just before your final dealership inspection. There's no money upfront, so you pay nothing while you prepare your application.
Will the office pass a state inspection?
Each office is in commercially zoned space with a business sign, posted hours and records storage. If an inspector visits, we'll meet them and show them your office.
Do you file my dealer license for me?
We provide the office and the signed lease you need for your application. We can refer you to licensing specialists if you'd like help with the filing itself.
When do I get my office?
Your office is assigned to you as soon as the inspector approves your dealer license. Until then, we hold your spot and give you the signed lease for your application.
